Air Elevating Lift Chair Bought with Donations
The Good Samaritan Home Health Care has purchased a Complete Air Moving Elevating Lift (CAMEL) with money received as donations from their clients and families.
The lift is portable and is carried in a duffel bag with a small compressor. The compressor operates on batteries or may be plugged into an outlet.
"A client who has fallen can be lifted from the floor to a chair height sitting position by one caregiver without strain to the client of caregiver", said Vicki Reuber, R.N., Director.
The lift is aired up like an air mattress once the client is positioned on top of it and all the client has to do is relax while the caregiver pushes a button.
The lift inflates into a chair that is firm and doesn't rock. Then the client can be transferred into his or her chair, wheelchair or onto their feet.
"We've been looking for something that is portable, lightweight and yet effective," Director Reuber said. "With this, we can lift someone off the floor without hurting them or one of us. It's great!
"Without each client and family donation to our agency, we could not have provided something like this to enhance the care of our clients".
