Going Green!
Here at Mangar International we are continually striving to make the company as environmentally friendly as possible. In line with this we are thrilled to announce that we have been recertified with the Green Dragon Award to Level 3. We were originally awarded Level 3 of the environmental standard in March 2006 however the requirements have recently been updated making certification tougher for those applying.
This award recognises the ongoing commitment of the company to meet stringent international and European environmental standards.
Jane Owens, Quality Assurance Manager and responsible for leading the company's environmental management strategy commented: "We are always pleased to receive recognition of our hard work, especially when it comes to something as important as protecting the environment. We won't stop there though, next step Level 4!"
Here are a few environmental initiatives we have implemented over the course of last year:
- Our gas consumption was reduced by 20% during 2006.
- All A4 Photo copier paper purchased is made from 80% recycled fibre.
- New purchases of letterheads and compliment sheets will be made from recycled material.
- Two thirds of our weekly waste collections are segregated for recycling.
- All used ink cartridges are returned to the Royal National Institute for the Blind.
- All newsletters and most leaflets are now available in electronic format to be emailed or downloaded from our website.
- We have set up a group of Environmental Champions from within the company to monitor our progress and day to day working practice.
